Athletic trainers and physical therapists work with athletes in the surrounding communities to address sports medicine needs. Medical coverage for sporting events is provided to assess and manage any on field injuries that occur. An athletic trainer also staffs the training rooms at Brainerd High School and Central Lakes College to provide assessment of injuries, management and rehabilitation.
St. Joseph's Medical Center Sports Medicine, in conjunction with Northern Orthopedics, also offers a walk-in sports medicine clinic. This clinic is held one time a week to allow athletes an expedient evaluation by an orthopedic physician and a physical therapist. The evaluation process is free; the only charge to the athlete would be if any procedures would be needed, such as casting, brace issuing, x-rays, etc.
