Family Birthplace
Every baby born at St. Josephs is unique - one of a kind every experience should be too. The labor and delivery nurses and OB physicians want every expectant mother to be assured that she will receive the most comprehensive state-of-the-art maternity care St. Josephs has to offer.
Each private birthing suite is tastefully decorated with warm colors and soft lighting. The beds adjust to a variety of positions for individual comfort. Whirlpool tub baths can help sooth away soreness.
Matching identification bracelets are placed on each mother and baby immediately after birth. Entrances into the Family Birthplace are only accessible through the use of an electronic scanner. St. Josephs Medical Center also requires all employees to wear a security badge for identification purposes. These security measures are in place to provide as secure an environment as possible for each newborn.

Pediatric Care
At St. Josephs Medical Center, we realize children need more individualized attention and closer monitoring than adults. They can't always tell a doctor or nurse where they hurt and changes in an ill child can occur rapidly.
St. Josephs Pediatric nurses are specially trained to meet the medical, developmental and emotional needs of children of all ages. They work closely with parents to make sure they understand every aspect of each child's care and they are always available to answer questions or concerns.
Parental involvement in the care and treatment of each child is important, both for the parent and the emotional support of the child. Parents are encouraged to bring any favorite toys, blankets or other items that may provide added comfort to their childs hospital stay.
The Family Birthplace and Pediatric Departments can be reached at (218) 828-7350.
